There are four main abiotic components to an ecological system that are important: Energy, Water, Air, and Soil. Now, I want you to think of physical laws that exist that are important to life. I'll give one example that you can't use. Ex. Gravity is important to life because it tells which way a plant should grow and it provides the force needed for two things to have friction so they can move (like a dogs foot on the ground). This is a hard question.

Water is an important part of life as it keeps us alive. Without water we would not be able to live and earth would not have any life. Our bodies are made of about 72% of waterPlants need it to be able to grow and also survive. Where ever you see a tree or a plant there was once water.

This is a good point Coral, but it's not the question. What I'm asking for is Physical Laws like the example I gave.

Thermodynamics is an important physical law of nature. Plants take the sun power and turn the solar radiation into work by photosynthesis. Also, animals use thermodynamics by getting energy by eating protein and carbohydrates.

Good idea Holmes. Can you, or anyone else, be more specific about this?

Well you first have to think about what Abiotic and Biotic things are. Biotic, Bio- meaning life, are all the the living organisms that make up that ecosystem. These include Fungi and also animals and plants these all work together to help build the ecosystem.

Interesting response Trevor! Anyone have another idea?

Where can we find the extra credit of the month

Go to the "Other (Caboose)" page for the extra credit labs of the month.

Another example is a conservation of energy law in an isolated system such as a water cycle. This law means that the energy can change it's location and form within the system. For example water can evaporate and become water vapor and then condense to form rain which is needed to water plants, fertilize the soil and provide water for living things to drink. The energy in a water cycle can neither be created or destroyed except by nature.

Energy is important in our lives because it allows matter (such as animals, water, gas, etc.) to move. It also allows objects to have a tempature because of kinetic energy, without energy there would be no movement, which would result in no life.

The atmosphere, is an important abiotic physical factor. It allows rapid transmission of certain particles throughout the airstream. For example, it allows the movement of oxygen and sunlight to go to plants. The airstream allows pollen to go to different places where the plants can reproduce and thrive in a different environment. All physical abiotic factors revolve around the center of basic life. Energy, gravity, water all revolve around each other to make the best possible ecosystem.

One important thing to life is that if it there was no energy coming from the sun we would freeze to death because the sun produces heat for the whole solar system .

We need energy, soil, air, and water because because if we don;t have energy there will be no plants because plants need the energy from the sun. The soil gives minerals to the plants so we need that so we can live. And we need air because thats we need every day so we can live also with water we need it but we don't need it everyday and all living things need it like we do. Comments are closed.
