This week we are learning to test our tires to maximize the competition capabilities of our planetary explorers. The better the traction the more force we can convey, and the more energy is transferred. You know that different environments (dirt, slick, concrete, etc.) need different tire designs, but what if the environment was another planet? Research the surfaces of one of the terrestrial planets, describe that surface here and then decided on the best tire type for a planetary explorer. Be sure to explain why you decided on this type of tire!
This week I would like you to explain a couple of things to me. Just tackle each question individually.
1) Explain how something can be considered moving and not moving at the same time.
2) What is the difference between Force and Energy?
Don't give me dictionary definitions, give me examples from around Joan MacQueen that we can all understand.
We've learned all about density and little bit about the structures in our universe (universe, galaxies, solar systems), and we also know that these things display motion. Now let's get deeper!
-How do you think density affects motion in our universe?
-How do these concepts contribute to formation of our solar system?
-Why are the outer planets gaseous (less dense) than the inner planets?
-Why are there more stars in the nucleus of a galaxy that in the disk?
These are just some questions that I would like you to tackle. Use your own words and explain how these things work together. You can also describe how these concepts (density, structure, and motion) are related in other ways too, but space is our topic of the week.
I would like you to find an online article that involves the concept of density, but the article can not be on buoyancy, submarines, fish, bone density, or anything about space. Paste the URL here and then give us a summary of why this online article involves density. Feel free to respond to other students posts and expand on, or refute, what they posted. Double postings on the same topic, or saying the same things, doesn't count!
