People get the concept of instantaneous speed confused with average speed. Please post examples that would help someone know the difference between the two. Pick one, or the other, or compare them. Contrast them?

The difference between average speed and instantaneous speed is that average speed is the average of all the speeds you traveled. Instantaneous speed is your speed at any given instant. I got confused first, but then this is what made it easier to know which is which.

This is perfect Kleine! Since we're talking about differences, how about someone telling me the difference between compression and tension.

The differences between compression and tension is that compression pushes something together while tension pulls something apart.

An example of tension could be when two ropes are being pulled from both sides...and an example of compression could be if you put something in the middle of both of your hands then squeeze them together. Tension and compression are opposites because, tesnion is pulling something and compression is putting something together

In the instant speed mean your speed for this amount of time. Average speed is the speed in total or over all. For example you are go in the freeway at 70 Milles per hour but then you get of the freeway and you decrease your speed by 30% the you see red light and you decrease by 100% by the time you have got to your avrege speed is 40 Milles per hours

Average speed is your total distance divided by time. Instantaneous speed is how fast you are going in an instant.

Sorrry I pressed send by accident. Instantaneous speed is how fast you are going in a certain instant. For example, a man is driving down the highway at 70 Mph.This would be instantaneous speed. But average speed is the total distance you travelled divided by time.Another example, is if the man traveled a certain distance divided by how long it took him to get there. He would learn the average speed of his driving.

Average speed is the total distance you would travel or ride a bike devided by the total time you have drove or rode. Instantaneous speed is howw fast you would ride a bike or drive a car at a certain time at that instant.

here is an example: A nascar race is going on and someone is in charge of recording a certain racers times so they have it for the records of the racer. The person recording will have many different times for instant speeds cause he is recording a certain time frame like maybe everytime he passes the starting line or something. But the average speed would be when he figures out the most common or most used speed he did. So pretty much instantaneous is less broad and average is more broad. Comments are closed.
