Th/F: Ok, homework is going to be a bit funky since we have the field trip on Friday. What you should know is that if you were introduced to chemical and physical change and have the entry in your notebook, you should now process that entry by either 1) making 3 illustrations of physical and chemical change from around the home and explaining it, or 2) creating an entirely symbolic representation of the underlined concepts in the notes for both physical and chemical change (can't use letters or numbers, ...not one).

Tonight I need you to create a mnemonic to remember the order of these objects. Remember, the objects that are in color are required, but if you include the others you will get a bit of extra credit. In addition I gave out the study guide for the unit test early. You can find a copy to download below. Start preparing your notes even though the test isn't until next week. LASTLY, if you didn't finish your script, you should do it tonight since I will start filming first thing on Thursday/Friday. Th/F: The only thing I need from you is for you to prepare for the unit test which is first thing next week.
M/T: Today you learned more about atom structure and why the periodic table is constructed the way it is. Tonight I want you to start the process of looking at atoms by finding an article from "science news for kids" or some other source that talks about atoms or molecules. Once you have the article, print it, glue it in on the right hand page, and then do the "One Page Summary (No more, no less)" on the left side of the entry. The instructions can be found on your "Reading Strategies" page.
W/Th: Now we're looking at substances. Tonight I need you to make a drawing of each of the substances we described in class. Of course, you can also start thinking about the structure of our solar system too since that is where we're headed. F: Today in class we started the process of applying our substance/atom/molecule info to the objects found in our solar system. You chose one of these objects and now you need to find the info on it. Bring that information next week so we can use it in our "interviews" |
