Where is Newton?!

12/9/2013

Look at the picture to the right.  Click on it if you want to see it bigger.  Now describe in detail how Newton's three laws of motion are demonstrated.

the rocket was at rest until the force of the jets made it move. The vector that is pushing up is bigger than the gravity vector that is puling it down. Because since one vector is bigger it pushes up. when the rocket is going up but the air is trying to push it down. thats what we think about the three laws.

Great job you guys!

This is useful information

Thanks for complimenting them Cory! Can you add anything? Why do you think this is useful? How do you see this information as important in your life?

the rocket uses force to get up in the air but it doesn't stop then even in air force is still used if you couldn't use force in the air astronauts would just sit in space not able to go anywhere because they can move without force.you can also see this in newtons third law.

Yes this clearly shows newton's third law. This rocket is an examlpe of thrust, velocity, and speed of coruse.

Newton's first law, the Law of Inertia, is clearly shown by the rocket flying into the air. The rocket will stay in motion until the engine burns out. Newton's second law is shown by the extreme amount of force applied by the engine to make the rocket move and continue accelerating. Newton's third law (adding onto what I said above), is shown by an action of the rockets blast, and a reaction of making the rocket move upward and accelerate into the sky.

Good work Kaylee Jo!

You all have done good work, but how do you see the principles that get the rocket into the air applying to your daily life?

When the rocket flies into the air it is showing Newtons First Law. The rocket will stay in motion until the engine stops. The 2nd Law is shown when the rocket increases force it will increase its acceleration. Newtons 3rd Law is demonstrated when the rocket is flying. The thrust out of the engine is the same amount of force as the rockets force moving forward.

The way you see Newton's first law is when it starts to take of into the air and it gets acted on by a net force like a astroid or something. The way u see the second law is when it starts the force it increases the acceleration. The third law is presented by its thrust. When the thrust pushes down it pushes the rocket up into the air.

the first law is showed because before the rocket takes off its not moving but when the rocket lifts off the thrust off it and the weight pushing down on it causes a net force. the second law is showed if you apply pressure it causes the rocket to accelerate. the thrust of the rocket pushes on the exhaust gas which causes it to go up

This picture shows an example of newton's third law (For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction) the thrust of the rockets jets are sending the rocket in the opposite direction.

Newton's 1st Law:
The rocket was still until force started to lift it off into the air.

Newon's 2nd Law:
The rocket seems to be light because of its slim figure. By the rocket being light, its gives the rocket a better chance of lifting off easier and faster.

Newton's 3rd Law;
The rocket is being pushed forward, but the exhaust flow is being pushed backwards.

The jets of the rocket blast it into the air which causes motion. The thrust of the jets are sending it in a specific direction

The rocket thrust off the ground and even after it takes off it still thrust In the air and this is newtons third law.
