Take a look at this quote below. First tell me what this guys means, then post an example of when it is better to use illustrations than to try to describe something with words. Be specific.

its faster to draw than to explian to people what he wishes to express.

I think he means that not everyone understands words or learns orally. With drawing however, you can really get a picture in your head. This rule obviously doesn't apply to everyone but i think it applies to me. What I'm trying to say is that it's easier for certain people to see drawings for things so they can get a picture in their head.

I think he means its easier to communicate with others through pictures rather than talking. Not everyone can understand one language, also it's harder to spread rumors and tell lies through drawing.

I believe that this man is expressing to tell the truth (a.k.a. the drawing) than to tell lies (a.k.a. talking). Telling the truth leaves no room for lies.

I believe that the quote means that he would rather show you whats on his mind than try to explain it in a way that you would understand and if he did try to explain it to you, it may take FOREVER. He is also trying to say that it is harder to lie when you draw because you want to stick to the "real" subject, and if you talk about or explain it, you may get carried away and "exaggerate or lie"

I think that drawing as a more accurate description of a setting, or measuring something cause it stays in your head longer then talking. For example, in construction they mostly use drawings because it is more accurate then telling someone how to build a house. But, some people are auditory learners which mean they can memorize stuff better then a visual learner who would use drawing.

I really like your example Michael, it really easy to understand and it could help people who do not understand the quote.

When telling a story, some times you can make stuff up and while illustrating, the picture cannot lie. A better time when using pictures is, for me, when I am learning, I like to see what I am learning, words might not explain it for me.

Well what i think he means is that it is harder to express how you feel with words opposed to when you write them and sometimes things that you try to speak come out as lies. I think times in which illustrations are better than words would be when you learn because for me it is much easier to remember the picture rather than words, you know a picture is worth a thousand words.

What this quote means is that when you draw there is no room for lying inside of the drawing where as when you talk hidden facts could be all over the place. And drawing is faster because when you talk you have to explain what you mean and when you draw you simply just draw what you feel.

The guy means that because drawing is faster than talking it's easier to explain. Bias travels around and tears people's words up sometimes. It's the reason why stories of the Revolutionary war are so biased. So much of the word to word conversation stating that the colonists beat the British back to their homeland has been burdened by overstating such things. It's easier to tell stories through pictures and not through words, because words carry unnecessary bias and emotion.

i think it means that sometimes when people tell stories they change what they heard. and when it is drawn you cant exactly lie about it. and for the other question: you could use it when drawing a diagram and other things in that nature

I think when he says that "drawing leaves less room for lies," it means that drawing makes it easier to tell the truth and it is easier to express how you feel. An example of drawing something when it is easier to describe, is when designers are trying to make a new outfit. Comments are closed.
