You had a chance to see at the beginning of the week my world's record breaking attempt! ...okay the rain turned it into a weak little Hot Wheels ride on a track! Now thinking about that ride and the set up. Name all of the way in which you could make me (the car) faster in a perfect world, but be sure to explain in detail why it would make me (the car) faster. No repeating what others said, so read the other posts.

I think one way to increase speed would be to make your car more aerodynamic. This would make you faster because there is less air resistance.

A way to make the car go faster would be to extend the height of the ramp. Instead of the straight away at the bottom of the track when the car is going at a constant rate, start the ramp higher up. This will help the cars speed increase.

Another way to make the car go faster is to reduce the amount of friction. This will allow the car to accelerate. The less friction on the car, the faster and longer distance it will travel.

You could also lost mass to gain accleration or applied more thrust with your start.

You also could of lost mass before the run to obtain more accleration or applied more force at the start.

I think a good way to make it go faster is.... put a littler car on the ramp then if it has little mass it would go faster for example: the planetary explorers the little one's were better because of the less weight sooo... if u take less of the race car it will probably increase it's speed and force!!:)

I think a good way to make the racecar go faster is if you made the ramp a little higher, or steeper. This way, the car will have more time and will be able to accelersate faster before it hits the flat surface of the ramp, where the carcan't accelerate without being acted upon. In Newton's 2nd law, it says less mass the faster it goes, so you could decrease the cars mass, and or make it a little more aerodynamic, however you spell it.

Too increase you'r car's speed you could widen the tracks rails and put magnets and both make negative poles facing one another. Then you have magnets on your car and they are repelling the extra rails, u put the cars magnets inside. therefor you would eliminate friction.

you could just try applying more force to the car and maybey try to make the ramp smother to take away friction.

A little more difficult way to make your car quicker would be to go inside of it and put a stiffer coil in the pull motor. This will give the car a much greater Acceleration and top speed. 12/15/2011 08:01:15 am
Too increase you'r car's speed you could build a high ramp and the slam on the gas.

Too increase you'r car's speed you could make a ramp that is really steep and the slam on the gas

You can increase the speed of a hot wheels car by newton's 3rd law- smoothening the road so there is no opposing force between the car and track

Mr.Casey we added wd40 on the tires 3rd period u did not go faster but I was thinking what if we added .......BUTTER!!!

In a perfect world if there was a strong wind going the same way as the car then it would increase the speed because it's applying more thrust to the car....also if instead of a ramp and then a flat straight away if you made it one big ramp just at a slow incline the car would be acted on by gravity and go faster =)

Another thought is smoother surface because less friction between the wheels and the concrete

You could have a heavier person in the front sitting up.That way when it goes down the ramp,it could pick up speed, instead of having Mr.Casey's feet hanging out the back. When his feet hang off the back, the aerodynamic rate goes down by a lot, and puts more weight on the back slowing it down.
