I believe that the quote means if someone were to study a subject and master it but then realize that they were doing it all wrong, they would relearn the subject.

I think that this qoute means that when you are in like college you might have a teacher that teaches things a different way and you have to learn to understand it .

Good start Hayes. Now tell me an example that you think could really happen.

Hey Casey. I think this quote means that since we are so far in to the future we should be able to read and write easily. But can we learn and keep on learning as we go
Mr. Casey
9/3/2013 08:31:14 am
Nice idea Dylan. Can you think of anything that we have to keep learning as we go?
Cameron Rochambeau
9/3/2013 08:14:39 am
Hey Mr Casey. I think this quote means that it's not as important to remember, it's important to learn and understand what is happening. If you can only remember something from class, that won't help anyone out. But if you know something you learned from class, then you fully understand it.
Mr. Casey
9/3/2013 08:32:30 am
Excellent thoughts Cameron. Can you explain the difference between "remembering" information and "knowing" information? 9/3/2013 08:25:08 am
I think that the more more farther we go the ones who cant read and write wont go as far as the ones who can. But they can always learn.
Mr. Casey
9/3/2013 08:36:48 am
Good idea Nathan. Can you explain how someone can learn without being able to read or write?
Jesse Rowley
9/3/2013 08:32:31 am
I think this means you have to be able to unlearn and relearn information that was previously thought to be true. For example, It used to be taught that Pluto was one of the nine planets in our solar system according to the new definition of the word planet, Pluto is now classified as a dwarf planet, and is no longer one considered one of our nine planets.
Mr. Casey
9/3/2013 08:37:55 am
Excellent work Rowley. You really get it. Can you think of other things our thinking must be flexible with?
Lindsey Judd
9/3/2013 08:39:04 am

9/3/2013 10:18:00 am
This quote makes me think about how someone can not Unlearn and then relearn a subject, habit or saying ,differently. When you learn something new, your brain will retain the way it was taught. If you try to unlearn and relearn the subject, habit or saying, in a way you have not seen it, your brain will learn it but, it will not retain it the same way you learned it the first time. Your brain will always seem to go back to the first way because it is more familiar to it.

I think this quote is reminding us that the illiterate people of this century are the people who have not learned the lessons that history has taught us. For example in Syria what president Assad is doing is similar to the acts of Hitler and Saddam Hussein.

9/3/2013 11:03:36 am
simplified version: the illiterate people of this generation will not be those who cannot read and write, but will be those who cannot learn something, unlearn something, and relearn that same thing..... I think that this quote states that it is not a good thing to just learn something and let it slip out of your head, but to stay disciplined to not only understand and learn it, but to understand its full meaning and potential.

I think this quote means that our generation will know information but not learn to understand it. 9/3/2013 01:14:39 pm
I really like how it tells you how people are like these days 9/3/2013 01:45:08 pm
i think it means that there is so much new information and so much older information is being proven wrong or just becoming obsolete that we need to adjust, learn what we "know" to be fact now, and forget what is now proven wrong. 9/3/2013 01:48:25 pm
this quote is interesting becaue it relates to the things that our happening now with us in schools and maybe even outside of school

Jennifer Smith

I like the quote because it shows that society is getting smarter. So you are illiterate not only if you can't read and write, but if you cant process the material multiple times in the 21 century.

Edgar Rivas
9/4/2013 01:07:51 pm
This basically means that science is ever so changing. We now have learned the science that our ancestors's ancestors have been studying, but we don't know what kind of new science we will discover, but discovering is made by questioning answers.

I think this quote means That so many people are on there Iphone or computer that it will be harder to learn the further technology advances.
Thomas Self
9/5/2013 02:06:33 pm
If people are open minded to learn new ways of doing things, it helps their minds to grow and discover. For example: If you know a way to take a photograph of a sunset, but you learn how to take it with a different lense, from a different angle, put the camera on a different setting, etc., your picture may turn out even better. Because you are willing to learn something new and unlearn/relearn something you already knew, your life can change.

If you cannot relearn a better way then there is no point in learning 9/5/2013 04:36:34 pm
People who aren't open to new ideas will not do well because education is always changing, and there are new ways of doing things.

Hey Mr Casey, he difference between knowing and remembering is if you know something, you understand what it is, and you can teach someone what it is. While remembering is having experience with something, being aware of what it is.
