Look at each of the branches in this illustration. The pictures references Charles Darwin and evolution. Look at each branch and then do some research. I want yo to list at least two ancestors for each of the species pictured. You only have to do one branch, and once that one branch is done no one else can do it. So if you see postings, be sure to check what animals have already been done.
Look at this periodic table and describe why it's designed the way it is. The next person can describe why the H, C and O are so similar in size. Someone else can describe what stars have to do with what we see. Someone else can describe the connection between stellar events and the small abundance of heavy elements. Click the image if you need a better view.
This posting will be up for the next TWO weeks (possibly 3). Click on the cartoon image to the left and identify at least one of the scientists. Next, describe what one of them has to do with what we have been studying. Next, find a scientist that has nothing to do with what we are studying and explain why you think that. Finally, you can argue with someone else's posting as to why or why not this scientist has a contribu Well, the holidays are here! Even if you don't celebrate Christmas I think it's safe to say we all have heard of Santa and his flying reindeer.
Eighth graders, describe how this is possible/impossible, calculate the speed the reindeer would need to cover just the circumference of the Earth (in m/s), the real speed of reindeer, and lastly how long it would take for real deer to cover that distance. Seventh graders, describe a minimum of 3 structural adaptations of reindeer and how this helps them survive. What is their natural biome? Describe how a reindeer would be if it were moved into the jungles of Thailand (do some research). Plants are not thought to be mobile organisms, but many can move. Eighth graders, find out which plants move and give us some rates of motion (speeds). Please provide three examples. 7th graders, take the info and describe how these behavioral adaptations help the plant to survive.
Thinking about the mealworms that 7th grade tested this week...
First, If you are a 7th grader, post your data as a table or graph, but without explanations. Second, if you are an 8th grade student, interpret the 7th grade graphs and tell me what they mean. Lastly, 7th graders will look at what the 8th graders said and tell them if you agree or not and WHY! WHY is the key!!!! Look at the diagram below. Thinking about your household, which do you contribute to the environment (not just the oceans)? We know how long they will be trash in the oceans, but now do a little research and find out how your household trash affects specific organisms. No repeat comments!
There isn't an official blog topic for this week so I want you to reflect on the successes and failures of this quarter. WITHOUT using names you have seen those who are successful and those who aren't, explain what it is that makes students do so well, or not. remember, do NOT use names, only traits.
Take a look at this quote below. First tell me what this guys means, then post an example of when it is better to use illustrations than to try to describe something with words. Be specific.
